Girls With Wings

Nurturing a lifelong relationship with aviation
From An Early Age

"Our aim is to introduce them to the opportunities available to them, hands-on, while building their knowledge."

Girl With Wings
Young Girl Pilot

From our position as an aviation consultancy firm, we acknowledge the huge underrepresentation of the girl child in the aviation industry. While attracting women to aviation vocations can be challenging anywhere –  the percentage of female pilots in Africa has been at a virtual stand-still since 1980, and the percentage of female aircraft maintenance technicians is less than 2%.

Upcoming Events

Every year, we host dozens of aviation awareness events. In each of these events, which also include several school visits, participants enjoy over a dozen interactive stations, a variety of aircraft to explore, and an opportunity to speak with female aviation professionals.

Where possible, we aim to keep the attendance free so that as many young girls can participate. Interested to join our next event?

Since 2018, we have observed that the number of women involved in the aviation industry has steadily increased and women can now be found in nearly every aviation occupation. However, the numbers are still very small. In our Girls With Wings program, it is our aim to introduce more young women to the field of aviation, where there is currently tremendous demand for pilots, engineers, and various other positions.

During our school visits, they will be given the opportunity to talk with aviation professionals about the various job opportunities and the paths to take to secure those types of positions.
